River-Lab Introduces On-line Training
River-Lab is excited to announce that we have listened to guide feedback and have piloted on-line guide training for the indoor portion for Grade 4 Fall 2011. Since we were unsure of how many volunteers would take advantage of this opportunity, we scheduled one traditional face-to-face session. And the results—no one came to that session! All seventy-three Grade 4 volunteers trained online in September! Message received!
We will monitor how effective on-line training is compared to the traditional method and if all goes well, we will offer on-line training for Grade 4 again next year, Grade 5 for the spring and possibly Grade 3 for next fall.

Garden Expo 2012 Dates
The Garden Expo is presented annually by the Garden Expo Committee for the benefit of River-Lab, a program of the Mill River Wetland Committee, a unique hands-on program of environmental study.
The 14th annual Garden Expo will be held at Fairfield Ludlowe High School in Fairfield, Connecticut on March 17 and 18, 2012. The celebrated show features over 90 home and garden related exhibitors selected by invitation only for their superior interest, quality, and appeal. The Garden Expo appeals to the gardener and the non-gardener alike. The variety of our exhibitors’ wares includes art, crafts and products for the home and garden. There’s something for everyone: the old, the young, and the young at heart.
Sponsors and volunteers are needed to support the event. Please call MRWC at 203.259.1847 or visit the Garden Expo website for more information. (Website is not updated yet.)
